Sydney is the world’s 7th most liveable city according to The Economist’s magazine’s Intelligence Unit’s annual global rankings results.

Lifestyle

Sydney is arguably Australia’s most stunning city.

A multicultural hub overflowing with endless possibilities when it comes to leisure pursuits and cultural & sporting events of all kinds. Whether you are young and just starting out in your career, well on the way up the ladder, or beginning a family, Sydney is a pulsing city full of culture & life, boasting an outdoor-centric lifestyle perfect no matter what stage of life you’re in.

As the city is drenched in sun most of the year round you’ll find Sydney offers no end of outdoor activities and locales to keep you entertained. It offers a diverse mix of coastal areas, bushland, rainforest and green spaces.

From fine cuisine to beachside casual dining, you can indulge your palate any way you wish. Whether culturally inclined, or a beach-goer, the city has something for everyone.

What’s Sydney’s Weather Like?

You’ll be glad to hear the city enjoys glorious weather most of the year round.

Summer: December to February - warm to hot with average maximum temperatures sitting around 26 degrees Celsius. Humidity can hit 65% during this period. Temperatures vary between 18.6 and 25.8 degrees Celsius in January, making it normally the hottest month.

Autumn: March to May – mild and pleasant, thanks to lower humidity levels.

Winter: June to August - mild to cool. July is the coldest winter month. Maximum average temperatures usually reach 16 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures hover do not normally dip below 7 degrees Celsius.  

Spring: September to November – warmer days and lower humidity compared to summer with temperatures ranging between 11 and 23 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall: Spread-out through the year. Highest from March to June.

Explore Sydney 

  • Swim and laze on the beach at Manly Beach, Bondi Beach, Balmoral Beach, Palm Beach, Bronte Beach, or Coogee Beach.

  • Go snorkelling at Gordon’s Bay, north of Coogee Beach & south of Clovelly Beach.

  • Get out on the harbour and paddle a kayak, hire a luxury boat charter for the day, or a get yourself a yacht.

  • During summer numerous world-standard sport events take place in the city, including cricket, tennis, golf and surfing tournaments. The Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, as well as Australia Day parties take place on Sydney Harbour during this season as well.

  • Explore Sydney’s fringe and visit Sydney Harbour National Park, hike the Sydney Coastal Walk, a lengthy 7 day walk taking you from Palm Beach to Cronulla.

  • Check out the Royal Easter Show which takes place over March & April.

  • Get festive and join the revelries at The Sydney Mardi Gras Parade in March.

  • Whale watch during the whale watching season from May to November on the east-coast. You can hop on a whale watch cruise ship departing from Circular Quay.

  • Walk along the coast from Bondi to Coogee.

  • Hop on a ferry leaving Circular Quay and just explore what Sydney Harbour has to offer. Why not discover the stories behind Sydney Harbour’s many islands while you’re out and about.

  • Do some real exercise legging-it from Bondi to Bronte. Grab some lunch at Bondi Icebergs Club along the way.

  • Do a bit of shopping while marvelling at the architecture on the interior and exterior of the Queen Victoria Building & The Strand.

  • Visit the Sydney Aquarium, or Sydney Wildlife World.

  • Transport yourself to another world walking through the Chinese Garden of Friendship. An oasis in the heart of Sydney.

  • Discover the beauty of the Royal Botanic Gardens in full bloom.

  • Start at the Opera House and walk around to The Rocks, before branching off and exploring wherever your curiosity takes you. 

  • Get those legs pumping and climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

  • For the ladies, jump in the McIver’s Baths, these gorgeous seawater pools are perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean and are the last remaining female-only baths in NSW. They’re open between sunrise and sunset (closing 1 hour prior to sunset on Sunday), dependent on tidal & weather conditions.

  • Jump on a seaplane and explore the city from above. 

  • Enjoy sumptuous cuisine, or try out degustation menus at any one of Sydney’s first-class restaurants, such as the Michelin starred ARIA.

  • Take in a performance at The Sydney Opera House.

  • Buy a ticket for a show at The Sydney Dance Company, located within the arts precinct at Walsh Bay and take in a world-class dance performance.

  • Stroll through the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Australian Museum and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

  • Mix it up with celebrities and historical figures at Madame Tussauds Sydney – Celebrity Wax Attraction along the Darling Harbour front.

  • Have fun with the friends, or family at Luna Park on Sydney Harbour’s northern shore

  • Get wet over at Wet’n’Wild Sydney, about an hour’s drive from the city’s heart.

  • Recline with a cocktail, or over dinner above the city skyline, inside the Sydney Tower Eye.

  • Visit Taronga Park Zoo, watch a demonstration, get up close with the animals, or just take a stroll around the park with the family.

  • Take your young family to Parsley Bay Reserve, a family park with swimming area and picnic facilities, as well as a playground.

  • Pick up some breakfast, or a snack and buy some arts and crafts, books and so much more at The Rocks Market, every Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm at Jack Mundey Place. A plethora of markets are scattered around the city. Add to your designer and vintage wardrobe, or sell your own, at the Kirribilli Markets in Bradfield Park, held twice a month.    

  • Play a game of barefoot bowls over at any one of the city’s bowls clubs such as Clovelly Bowling club, which boasts a stunning view.

  • Take a dip and gaze across Sydney harbour while swimming laps in the pool, at Andrew (Boy) Charlton, Sydney’s leading aquatics leisure centre.

  • Do a pub crawl with your friends through the Rocks precinct.

  • Venture into Kings Cross for a big night out.

  • During winter, head further afield to Perisher Blue or Thredbo by car (about a 6 hour drive), train or coach and do some skiing, or snowboarding.

  • Head away from the city and into the Blue Mountains for a weekend getaway.
